Textbooks

Many inquiries have been received regarding loaning or buying textbooks over breaks and holidays.   Due to our limited number of books we are unable to accommodate these requests.   For any one interested in purchasing their own personal copies of new or used textbooks, a list of the books we use at Martin and ordering information can be found on the website or on page 14 of the MMS Student/Parent Handbook.   Note the cost listed is the replacement cost for lost or damaged books as negotiated by bid for state adopted textbooks.   Retail price or purchasing books directly from the publisher may be at a different cost.

From the Theatre Department
Martin Theatre Arts Students to Appear in Magnet Video

Drama Production students Will Appleyard and Sophie Larin have been selected to appear in a new Magnet Video being produced by the WCPSS Magnet Programs.  Six students from the Wake County Magnet middle and high schools were chosen to have speaking parts in the video, and we are proud that two of those students are Martin's very own.  Congratulations!

Puppeteers of America , a national puppetry association, will be including photos of the "Midsummer Night's Dream" puppets that were built by our Theatre Arts students , in their Power Point presentation at the Southeast Regional Puppetry Festival in Savannah, Georgia in June.
Super job, kids!   Special thanks to Martin parent Robin O'Connor for taking the great photos!

Theatre Arts Department Needs...
The Martin Theatre Arts Department needs wire coat hangers (any color but the wire must go completely around, not be replaced with the cardboard roll) for its puppetry class.

Also helpful, if you are cleaning out your craft closet and have any of these, would be donations of yarn or string (any color and texture), acrylic paint, small paintbrushes, foam paintbrushes, small round glue sticks and glue guns, and trim such as sequins and ribbon.  Plastic/Rubbermaid tubs with lids are always welcome.

If you have anything to donate, please bring them to room 3106 on the arts wing after checking in at the office.  Thank you!
