Visual Arts Awards

North Carolina State Fair Winner
Mrs. Meeks's art students won 3rd place in the North Carolina State Fair this year.  Along with this award came a $450.00 cash prize that has helped the Visual Arts Classes with special needs. Martin's winning group included: Rose Field, David Wyche, Ginny Niver, Nicole Seider, Jenna Pilato, Savannah Hardy.

North Carolina Scholastics Art Show Winners
Mrs. Meeks's art students entered this very prestigious juried art show that selects from over 2400 entries from middle school and high schools from over 60 counties in the state.  There were 4 Gold Key Winners that are now traveling to New York City for the national competition.  There were 3 Silver Keys also.  The Gold Key Winners which were displayed at Barton College in Wilson, N.C. are Jenna Pilato (2 Gold Keys), David Wyche and Nicole Seider.  The Silver Key Winners were Ginny Niver, Rose Field, and Griffin Conners.These students and their parents were honored at a reception in Wilson at Barton College and all of their work is featured online at the Barton College Scholastic Arts website.

 

Raleigh Junior League Woman's Club Winner
Mrs. Meeks's art students represented Martin at the Raleigh Junior League Woman's club. Ginny Niver was the first place winner for the middle school section.  Ginny's winning art work will now move to the district level to compete.  Ginny was rewarded with a certificate and $25.00.

Wake County's Pieces of Gold Winner
Mrs. Meeks's art student, Jenna Pilato won first place for all middle school entries in Wake county.  Jenna, Mrs. Meeks and Mr. Martin were recognized at a reception at the BTI center before the Pieces of Gold Performances.  Jenna's art was framed professionally and will be displayed for a year at the Wake Education Partnership Offices in Raleigh.
